Repetto and Birkenstock reserve one colourway for an eight-day Ginza pop-up

Look Holdings' Repetto and Birkenstock will release a three-model capsule collection on 16 July, but one colourway is held back for an eight-day pop-up at Dover Street Market Ginza, a small case study in using a single floor as the scarcity lever rather than the discount one.

Look Holdings, which operates Repetto in Japan, said it will release a capsule collection with Birkenstock on 16 July: three models — the Arizona Round Buckle at ¥69,000, the Opera at ¥73,000 and the Scala at ¥77,000 — sold in Icone Pink, Flame Red and Black. The collection goes on sale from 10:00 that day through Repetto's stores and online shop, select Birkenstock retailers, and 1774.com.

One colourway, though, sits outside that wider release. According to the companies, the Flame Red version of the Scala is sold only through an eight-day pop-up on Dover Street Market Ginza's fourth floor, running 16 to 23 July, 11:00 to 20:00 — a single colour and model held back for a single floor, for just over a week.

The companies describe the collaboration as pairing Repetto's ballet-shoe heritage with Birkenstock's orthopaedic sole engineering, drawing on 1950s ballet styling and the era's screen glamour; the shoes carry a gingham-check footbed and a round buckle nodding to a ballet formation.

This is Promotion doing the work, not discounting: a single colourway held to one floor for eight days turns a shoe collaboration into a reason to visit, not a reason to wait for a sale. It is also a small data point on how Dover Street Market's Ginza flagship gets used by outside brands — less a store than a short-lived, address-specific stage for a cross-brand drop.
