Hanshin Umeda's art gallery pairs two Japanese painters for a one-week show

Hanshin Umeda devotes its 8th-floor gallery to two Japan-based painters from October 21, pricing works up to ¥528,000 -- a routine but recurring use of flagship event space for art sales.

Hankyu Hanshin Department Stores said its Hanshin Umeda Main Store will hold a two-person exhibition and sale by painters Nana Suzuki and Yasuhiro Kagami on the 8th-floor Art Gallery from October 21 to 27, 2026, with the final day closing at 5pm, according to a company release.

Suzuki, born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1987, paints figures -- young women and teenage girls -- that the release describes as capturing "delicate, shifting emotions"; she recently exhibited at ONE ART Taipei 2026. Kagami, born in Hokkaido in 1959, began as an illustrator before turning to oil painting and has shown recently at ART TAINAN and ART KAOHSIUNG in Taiwan. Prices run from ¥110,000 for Suzuki's "Hana no Kioku III" to ¥528,000 for her "Tasogare," with other works listed between ¥132,000 and ¥198,000, the company said.

The show is the department store's latest turn of a gallery floor it rotates through regularly -- Hanshin Umeda gave the same space to Charles Fazzino's 3D pop art for a week in early October -- a low-inventory-risk use of flagship square footage that doesn't compete with the apparel floors below it.
