Saitama's Cocoon City posts a fourth straight record year, up 3% to ¥45.6bn
Katakura Industrial's station-front mall in Saitama set its fourth consecutive annual sales record even as a neighbouring facility's renovation cut into footfall — the company says spend per visitor, not more visitors, closed the gap.
Katakura Industrial said its Cocoon City shopping complex at JR Saitama-Shintoshin Station posted annual sales of ¥45.6bn for the year to August 2026, up 3% on the previous year and a fourth consecutive record, in a release marking the mall's 10th anniversary.
